Chicago Report - Part I

Well, here's the first part of my Chicago report/recap *g* (and wow, I'm actually very impressed by myself *lol* With Asylum and Breakout Con it took me weeks to post a proper report LOL )
Okay, I think everything started a few months back when the news came out that Jared’s supposed to be at a convention in Chicago. And the first thing that came to my mind was something like: “Yeah, sure… Jared and convention! This is so not going to happen”. And at that point I didn’t even picture myself being there. But at some point my attitude changed, we bought the tickets, then the flight and hotel room and BAM… suddenly it was November the 9th and I was really standing in Chicago.
People, I have to tell you that this weekend was one of my best weekends ever!! You all know how you feel when you see a J2 interview clip or the boys talking with each other. But having the opportunity to see this LIVE on stage, just a few feet away from you is so overwhelming in its own way, it’s truly hard to describe with coherent words – besides OMG and SQUEE. The chemistry they both have on camera and off camera is so amazing and just beautiful to watch.
Okay, but let’s start at the beginning. Marion and I flew from Vienna over Munich to Chicago. The flight was quite okay – just a bit long. But thank God for almost no turbulences. :D Highlight of the flight?! It took Marion three attempts to fill out the entry papers for the USA. *lol* That was awesome… okay, I guess not for Marion… LOL (sorry, hun :D )
We arrived in Chicago perfectly on time and hunted down a cap. Actually the caps available at the airport were quite expensive so we ordered a cap. At this point we were up for like 30 hours! Seriously, that was so not funny at all. Walking zombies anyone? (hey, at least we didn’t eat some brains… yet)
On the way to our hotel I gave
jennie_belle a call that we were finally there and would be in the hotel very soon. As we entered the lobby just a little bit later Jennifer and Vicki, our lovely roommates, greeted us. Big hug fest!!! lol We also meet quite a few other LJ ppl!! YAY!
The room was also good… a little bit smaller than expected… but hey, we weren’t in the room much anyways, so who cares? :D I’m telling you, finally having the opportunity to shower was awesome!! *sigh* I was still tired as hell, but at least I felt fresh and clean again!
In the evening we went to the Fan Meetup thingy… and it was so much fun! We were sitting with two ppl from Fandom Rocks (
carpedi7 and…
roniabirk
) as well as
jennie_belle,
eilan,
jenniebellie
abydosww, and
charly2004. It was so lovely meeting you all!! *blows kisses*
They also raffled off some great Supernatural merchandise. And yay, I won the companion book and two Supernatural notebooks. Truly awesome, cause I never win anything!! *does snoopy dance* But even more awesome was the fact that they raised around 800$ with this evenet! Wohooo…
48 hours… that’s the number of hours Marion and I’ve been up at this point. But there was no sleep waiting for us after the meetup. Registration for the gold pass holders was still open so we wanted to get registered before the looong line next day. Registration was quite fast. Everyone got a huge Jared or Jensen picture as a gift :D (Guess which one I took LOL ) Uh, talking about pictures…. Just next to the registration desk was the vendors room and of course Marion and I just had to “take a peek” You know that kind of peek where you just “look” and then leave the room with tons of merchandise!! lol A poster, some pictures and the Supernatural magazine were my booty! Trust me you don’t wanna know what Marion bought, it was a whole lot more :D
Finally, after we spent way too much money (as always lol ) we went to our room. SLEEEEP!!! Yay…!!! Finally!!!!
Saturday morning
You have no idea how awesome life can be if you are fully awake and well rested. Okay, maybe you do… but I hadn’t this experience in a loooong time :D
As we covered the registration thingy and adventure to the vendors room the night before, we had time to check out the mall which was just located vis-à-vis our hotel.
Dude, the mall was HUGE!! We wandered around for a few hours, grabbed some breakfast/lunch (whatever you want to call it) and decided we’d be coming back on Tuesday before we had to leave for the airport.
At around 1 pm Samantha Ferris’ panel finally started. Oh, one quick side-note… you have no idea how AWESOME it is that you have a permanent seat for the whole weekend. No lining up, no fighting…. you just walk to your seat, sit down and enjoy!! *LOVE*
So, well… Sam was simply awesome. I had no idea what to excpet of her b/c I’ve never seen anything from her besides her role in Supernatural. But trust me when I say, this woman kicks ass! I so regret not buying a photo-op with her! (Not going to make this same mistake at Asylum though)
I’m not going into detail what she talked about – b/c I think at this time you’ve read all the recaps and and transcripts floating around the internet.
I just love the fact that it seemed she’s very impressed by both the guys. Not to mention that she thinks both of them are drop dead gorgeous as well.
She also revealed that the two Js were supposed to be at the Steve concert later this evening…. and the crowd went wild :D
Sam is truly like Ellen… one hell of a tough chick, speaking her mind and at the same time being funny as hell. She simply rocks, I cant wait to see her again next year.
Next on stage was the one and only, Mr. Mark Lutz! Dude, I love him so much. I was so looking forward to his panel, because, hands down, he’s one of the funniest guys ever. He answered all questions – albeit some of them were kind of stupid – and he joked around the whole time.
At the first day there had also been a guy translating everything into sign language. And it turned out, the term “bikini made of coins” (you know, Cordelia, Angel… season two) looked quite funny. So, of course, Mark noticed that and ever since each second sentence was “bikini made of coins” ROFL… we literally were in tears, laughing so hard.
At the end they also showed a little clip of Mark’s upcoming movie Victor! (yeah, they finally found a distributor)
Next one… Fredric. He sang!!! Holy lord, who would have expected that. And quite good as well!! Very impressive, Fredric. He also talked lots about working with the two Js and that he was one of the few lucky ppl on set not getting pranked by them. Well, quite understandable I guess. I wouldn’t want to mess with a creepy yellow eyed demon myself. :D
Last but NOT LEAST… Nicholas Brendon. Besides Jared and Jensen, he was the one I’ve been looking forward this whole weekend. I’m a Buffy fan from the very first minute and it was sooo awesome finally meeting “Xander” True, his outfit could have been better *cough* but he was just awesome on stage and funny as hell. He even did the snoopy dance!!! (Anyone interested in the video? :D )
After Nicks stage talk he was schedulded for the photo ops. The pic turned out quite okay, I’m happy with it :) But his outfit…. *sigh* I also don’t understand why he was wearing a cap the whole weekend. Sure, shaggy hair and everything, but he looked awesome with his longer hair.
After Nick’s pic, we went back to the main hall, getting our stuff signed by Fredric, Sam and Nick. Sam was actually the only one personalizing the pics for all ppl! That was quite nice. :)
At around 10 pm Steve Carlson’s concert began. I have to say, I was quite impressed by him. I’ve heard his songs before and I really liked them. But seeing him performing live on stage – just him and his guitar – was very impressive. *need more music now*
Later at the desert party thingy we also learned that Jared and Jensen had been at the concert, sitting at the exact same table our group was sitting at!!!
“GIRLS CHECK FOR HAIRS… WE NEED DNA” *lol* Sorry…
Nick wasn’t at the desert party, which made me sad and a little bit mad. But later I learned that he was tackled down by the bodyguards of Jared and Jensen (or something like that) and that he had to leave! :( (you can hear the whole story in Nick’s audio blog on this web page)Way to go Creation... awesome way of treating your guests :(
Well, that was pretty much the first day… Boy… and the fun has even just begun.
Up next… SUNDAY… the day of all days… *squeee*
