New friends... old friends... and a Watchman in-between

Now that's an awesome subject line, huh? LOL

I have quite some new friends... so, first of all, a very warm welcome to all of you guys! :-) Glad to have you here! If there’s anything you want to know about me, just ask! (I answer almost any question lol ) (ETA: Oh and I forgot to mention... I don't read any kind of spoilers! So please, PLEASE always use LJ-cuts! Okay? Thanks *g* ) )

Contrary to that I’ll do a little friends cut the next few days. You know, nothing personal, yadda yadda yadda. Just, if we don’t talk any more or never really clicked I’ll cut you. You know, there’s no point to keep each other around any longer, right?

In other news… finally watched Watchmen Honestly, I don’t know what to think of it. I actually can’t understand all the hype about this movie. I mean, it was okay-ish and all, but definitely not the “best movie ever”. But Jeffrey Dean was awesome …. although…

he was playing quite an asshole and stayed true to his “I die in almost every project I do” style LOL But yeah, nothing new there, huh?

Keep me!! *clings*

Hhm, lot's of people seem to think the movie is not that good. A friend just told me it's rather strange. I probably won't watch it at the cinema then.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
as IF I'd cut you *hugs*

Well, I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I felt entertained after watching it. But there are far better movies out there. I think the problem here is that the movie got so idolized beforehand and the expectation were simply too damn high.

I really want to see WATCHMEN, even though there's so much mixed reaction to it.

EVERYONE seems to love JDM, though!

Love, Robin

well, then you should go and see it! Maybe you like it more than I did! After all, everyone has different taste :D

I'm glad that JDM gets such a positive feedback!! He's going to be huge one day, I'm telling you! He's already working on like 5 other project!!

[identity profile] afrocurl.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually liked Watchmen, but I don't think I had huge expectations going in.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's the problem with me... my expectation were just so effing high... TOO high, I guess. :-/

[identity profile] roniabirk.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
It was a little wrong how hot he was to me in this role. Guh.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
so wrong, it's right? :D :D It has to be the "JDM effect" - I guess no one can escape that. (not that we even want to *g* )

[identity profile] roniabirk.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's the voice. Why can't I meet someone with a voice like that? Ack.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
B/c life's truly unfair that way... that's why :-(

[identity profile] sophisti-girl.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
After being so excited for the past year, and even reading the graphic novel last summer, I was still left feeling kinda "eh" about it. It was way to long for my taste. That being said it also piqued the interest of the academic in me and I'm now wandering around the internet trying to find some articles/essays about the comic for my own amusement.

JDM was really hot in his outfit, but I knew going in what a bastard the character was so I didn't really feel conflicted. Man did I hate the female lead though. She is a horrible actress! Made worse by the fact that she was surrounded by really good actors.

Hmm, I feel like a bit of a douche saying this but...you are so not cutting me! ( right?)

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Before this movie came along, I actually never heard about the Watchmen comic(s) *lol* So yeah, my very high expectations about this movie were solely based on the hype created beforehand. I guess that was my mistake, b/c after expecting this uber-great masterpiece of movie history I got 2 1/2 hours of "hmm okay? That's it?" with some side aspects of "oh dear lord, JDM looks hawt" thrown in there. :-/

I agree about the female actress. She was horrible. I could instantly name you like ten other actresses who would have been much better for this role.... *sigh* I hope they won't do the much rumored sequel! :-/

Hmm, I feel like a bit of a douche saying this but...you are so not cutting me! ( right?)

See, alone for that comment I should totally cut you :P I mean, it's obvious that we have zero in common and don't really get along - AT ALL!!! :-/

[identity profile] sophisti-girl.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I hope they won't do the much rumored sequel! :-/

Are you kidding? Typical Hollywood. It's funny that they were adamant in being as accurate as possible to please the fanboys and then are totally willing to piss all over it by making a sequel.

See, alone for that comment I should totally cut you :P

LOL! God I'm such an ass :P

I mean, it's obvious that we have zero in common and don't really get along - AT ALL!!! :-/

IKR! Why do I even talk to you?! (J/k : D)

Oh, got your email. I just sent you my response. That should be okay.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess in the end it's all about making the big bucks. :-/ And so far, the latest box office figures are literally screaming for a sequel. I hope JDM won't be in that one, I don't want to watch the sequel LOL

IKR! Why do I even talk to you?! (J/k : D)

Ohhh you just wait after the con weekend!! :D We are SO going to be over with our friendship after that :P

(btw, a little more than two weeks... until it's FINALLY HERE!! Here, here, HERE! Weeh!!)

(btw, a little more than two weeks... until it's FINALLY HERE!! Here, here, HERE! Weeh!!)

I KNOW!! I'm getting super excited, and nervous as all hell! It has been so long since I've been to one and for whatever reason watching the videos for the NJ Con sent me into a mini nerve panic attack.

My head is constantly going through a list of things I need and what I should bring. I really need to check and see what the weather is going to be like.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I've been working my way through all the NJ con goodies myself!! And I so can't wait to see Misha live and in action!!! But I'm afraid that after meeting him I'm going to crush on him way too much *sigh* The last thing I need is another fangirl obsession!!

I already made a list called "WTDBLFC" (which means "what to do before leaving for Cali") lol And another list for all the stuff I have to pack! Otherwise I'd go crazy!!

According to the Marriott homepage the weather's around 60 - 70°F :D And as we have temperatures around 35-40°F here, this sounds like HEAVEN!!

[identity profile] sophisti-girl.livejournal.com 2009-03-11 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Here it is in the mid to high 70s so I guess I'll just dress there how I'm dressing here. Of course I'll still keep my eye on it just in case it changes in the next two weeks.

I'm so excited!!!

[identity profile] nila-rena.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for new friends!

Oooh friendscut. Do I have to I have to be afraid? *g*

Still haven't seen Watchmen. I'm no good at going to the cinema lately

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, my dear! You should be shaking in your boots! :P

Well, I mean the effects and huge fight scenes look nice on the big screen, but I'm not sure if it's worth the 8 Euros for the movie ticket. :-/

[identity profile] all-feeling.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Watchmen is a complex movie and you have to see it at lest twice to really understand. But once you understand, the movie is amazing.

I had that same reaction after seeing the movie for the first time but it got much better the second time.

Comedian was a joke to the society of the world, to the people and how human and cruel the can be at the same time. I think JDM playd it really well.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm not really sure if I want to sit through these 2 1/2 hours again :-/ I mean, I got what they were trying to sell with the story and all, I just didn't feel the need to invest myself so much in all the details.

I think that's exactly the reason why JDM took that role. He saw the potential and the deeper true meaning behind that character and wanted to be a part of it. Good for him, I'm really glad he's doing so well lately :)

well, if you like lots of special effects and fight scenes on the big screen, you should go see it. I think it's ok to watch it on the big screen. I'm just not sure if the whole story's really worth the movie ticket :-/

Got your email. Thank you! Will answer tomorrow - hopefully with the promised pictures :D

I wanna see the Watchman but im not all like "YEAH WATCHMAN", and id be fine if i had to wait for it to come out to rent.

[identity profile] tinkabell007.livejournal.com 2009-03-10 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The special effects look really cool on the big screen. But I'm not sure if that's enough to actually go see it in the movies - cause the storyline and translation of the comic wasn't really my thing.
