spn_dailylife prompt challenge - My prompt was alcohol (THAT I can definitely work with!! lol )
“I think you’ve lost your mind, Sammy boy,“ Dean stated matter-of-factly. After a long exhausting fight with some ‘I’m a badass demon thing-y’ the last thing he wanted to do was to get into an argument with is smartass brother.
“What?” Sam cried out, his voice high-piched. He couldn’t believe his brother. “You’re joking, right?”
“Me? Joking?” With his left hand he pointed at his stoic face. “Never.” Cooly, he grabbed the bottle of beer in front of him, taking a sip.
“I don’t see why this is such a big deal,” Sam snorted, while rolling his eyes at him.
“Oh come on, you know how I feel about her…” Dean stopped abruptly, his eyebrows going up to his hairline. “I mean…”
“For crying out loud, Dean! How many times do we have to go over this?” Sam inquired incredulously, leaning closer to his brother, leveling his gaze with him. “It’s. Just. A. Car,” he said dead slowly, punctuating every word.
Dean looked offended, his features a mix of anger and disbelief. By now, after they had spent so many hours on the road, driving from state to state, from one shitty little demon filled town to another, Sam should know how much he loved the Impala and how unwillingly he let other people borrow it – even Sam. They had this fight over and over. There was just no way Sam would get his car for tonight.
With a sudden movement, Dean imitated Sam’s motion by leaning forward as well, his face just mere inches away from his brother’s.
“And how many times do I have to tell you this?” He asked leisurely, his tone calm but confident. “It’s not A car, it’s THE car.” One of his trademark smirks tugged at the corners of his mouth, his eyes shining with victory as he settled back in the chair, taking another swig of his beer.
Sam pressed his lips tightly together, anger flaming in his eyes, as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“Why do you need a car anyways?” Dean demanded with interest.
Sam met his eyes again. “It’s none of your business.”
“Aw come on, little brother.” Suddenly the secretiveness had peaked his interest.
“I’m Dean, I’m the older and much wiser brother…” he paused for a moment “not to mention the better looking one…”
“You wish…” Sam interrupted, but Dean continued without reacting to his brother’s objection.
“Anyways, I need to know if Sammy boy here is getting himself into danger. Why else would you need car, right?” Dean chuckled. “I mean it’s not like you have a date or something.”
For the first time since they started this absurd argument, Sam pulled his gaze away - just for a second - but Dean caught the shift immediately, the chuckles dying in his throat.
“Well, well… Sammy found himself a lady. Good for you, man. I mean it’s time you bring some action into your life,” he winked at him “If you know what I mean.”
“Yeah, well, whatever. This is why I didn’t want to tell you in the first place. I knew your reaction,” he said, making a sound of frustration. “So, what now?”
“What’s what?” Dean asked, pouring the last drop of beer into his mouth.
“Me? Borrowing the car?”
“Hmm… no,” he replied nonchalant.
“Dean!” Sam yelled accusingly.
“Take the bus or grab a taxi.”
“Well, would you go on a date by bus?” Sam requested
“No…. because I have car.” Smirking again brightly, he monitored every move of his brother, noticing the anger controling his face. “But you know what, I’ll play for it.”
“What?” Sam asked surprised, already hoping his brother was thinking about ‘Sicssors, Rock, Paper” - THAT he’d win in a heartbeat.
“Yeah, a little game. If you win you can take your girl out tonight - with the Impala - and do whatever you crazy kids are doing these days,” he nodded knowingly. “When I win… I mean, if I win, I’ll keep the Impala and you have to wash and polish it until it’s sparkling in all its black and holy glory.”
“What’s the game?” Sam questioned impatiently, checking his watch. This was stupid. It’s not like they were kids gambling over some stupid trophy. They both were grown man, supposed to settle things like adults and talk about it. And besides, just borrowing a car shouldn’t cause any debate in the first place.
Ignoring Sam’s question Dean shifted forward, a wicked smile on his lips. He leaned his left arm on the table, asking eagerly “You in?”
“Yeah, whatever, I’m in,” Sam huffed, still not amused about the whole situation.
“Well then, let the beers start to roll, “Dean announced euphoric, waving at the waitress to bring new bottles.

After two beers
“This is stupid,” Sam exclaimed, pulling the third bottle to his mouth. “We are both going to be drunk and then neither of us can drive a car.”
“Speak for yourself. I’m not getting drunk that easily. By the way, I don’t need the car tonight anyways.”
And at a gulp the next bootle was emptied.
“What? Why the hell are we doing this then?” Sam demanded.
“Because it’s fun,” Dean smirked. “Good old-fashioned fun. You know, once in a while even we are entitled to that.”
“This is not fun. This is just you wanting to get your will.”
“And yet you’re here, still playing, “Dean mocked, fully enjoying their little battle.
After four beers
The tiny table between them got slowly filled with full and empty bottles but their game still went on strong.
Dean waved at the waitress, signaling her to bring another round of beers. “Seem’s that Sammy here grew himself some stamina.”
After six beers.
“Dean, we really should stop this,” Sam recommended, his words clear and steady.
“Nah…” Dean waved at him, slurring a bit.“I’m good. Just a little drunk.”
“Do you remember the last time when you were ‘just a little’ drunk?” Sam asked, a small smile playing on his lips as the memories rushed back in. “You had ‘The Time of your Life’ – literally. That karaoke bar was never the same after your little performance.”
“Oh please… that’s a classic,” Dean retored. “And it’s totally Swayze’s fault. He’s just too cool for this world. Besides, I’ve been telling everyone you were the one doing drunk karaoke.” He flashed his brother another smile before making a toast to Patrick Swayze’s leather jackets.
Sam sighed and just rolled his eyes at him, bringing the next bottle to his lips.
After seven and a half beers
“Son of a bitch!” Dean yelled, rubbing his eyes. “Look, man.” He waved at the waitress behind Sam, forcing him to turn around. “I had no idea she had a twin sister.”
Sam peeked over his shoulder, searching for said twin sister but only could find the standard edition of waitress serving them their liquid goodness.
“Alright, I guess that’s the cue. The bar is officially closed for you, buddy.” With these words he pulled the latest bootle of booze away from Dean’s side of the table, smiling triumphantly. “I guess, I’m driving the Impala tonight after all.”
“What the f…” Dean started but was interrupted by Sam’s words.
“Hey man,” he raised his hands offensively, barly hiding an amused expression on his face
“Your game, your rules!” He stood while snatching the keys from Dean.
“Well then, have a good night, Dean.” Sam flashed him another winning smile before he left the table.
“Yay… and Sammy, make sure you’ll be safe!” Dean yelled after him. His tone making it very clear what he really meant.
Sam ignored his last remark – as so often – and made his way to the waitress leaning casually at the bar, waiting for an order.
“Make sure that he doesn’t do anything stupid,” Sam said, more a question than a statement, and waved a twenty dollar bill in front of her face.
“Oh yeah…” The waitress glanced at the table were Dean was just trying to build a pyramid out of the empty bottles as she grabbed the money.
“I’ll definitley take good care of him.” A seductive grin lingered on her face.
Sam chuckled and rolled his eyes. “Alright then.” He turned around but was stopped by a hand on his upper arm. Surprised he swung around.
“Oh by the way. Did your brother notice that you’ve cheated?” The waitress asked casually, releasing Sam’s arm.
“You mean if he noticed that I just took a long sip, but left the bottle nearly full?” Sam asked innocently, making his best impression of puppy dog eyes.“Nah, I don’t think so.”
Another content smile danced around his lips as Sam left the bar looking forward to his own‘time of his life’ Dean was a good fighter and had always very original ideas, but when it came to little brotherly contests between the two of them Sam knew he could always handle him.
While Sam made his way to the Impala, Dean remained sitting at his table, contemplating how it was even possible his younger brother beating him in a drinking contest. It’s not that he invented this damn thing, but over the years he became quite the master in it.
“Hey there.” Suddenly a voice whispered into his ear.
Although his mind was clouded with alcohol, he immediately matched the mysterious voice to the waitress.
“Wanna be my Swayze for tonight?” The woman breathed with her most alluring voice. “I’ll be done in 10 minutes and then we can go somewhere more private.”
Dean grinned widely. “Oh, absolutely.”
As they both exited the bar a couple of minutes later, already hot and heavy all over each other, Dean couldn’t help but humming ‘time of his life’, cleary the song of his evening.
